Dr Alastair Jones

Dr Alastair Jones

Alastair’s areas of clinical expertise include SEM/MSK assessment and management, MSK Ultrasound, tendinopathies, bone stress reactions, joint pain management and concussion. The latter of which he is a key opinion leader for several global medical organisations.

From amateur to international athletes, Alastair expertly and successfully assesses, diagnoses and treats MSK injuries. He runs Sports Medicine and MSK clinics across Leeds and Bradford, within the NHS and private sectors.

Alastair has held the post of Head of Medical Services for Leeds Rugby where he oversaw the medical departments of both Leeds Rhinos Rugby League and Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union. Currently, he is the Head of Medical Services for Leeds Rhinos Netball.

Previously, Alastair worked for Tonga as their Doctor during the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, and held the role of Immediate Care Doctor at the 2015 Rugby Union World Cup and 2016 Rugby Union Junior World Cup.

Alastair is a Director of ecovery – a clinical triage platform, and of Simply MSK Ltd. – a musculoskeletal and sports medicine education company, placing him at the forefront of MSK Medicine in clinical, digital and educational fields.

Sally Beaumont
Personal Assistant

Sally Beaumont

Sally is our multi-talented PA responsible for keeping our organisation running smoothly.

Sally is a Personal Assistant working in both the Private Sector and NHS with extensive knowledge and experience of supporting Consultants, Physicians and Senior Management.

She has a specialist interest in Sports & Exercise Medicine and enjoys running, spin classes, attending the gym and travelling in her spare time.

Anthony Burns
Senior Physiotherapist – Nuffield Hospital, Leeds

Anthony Burns

Anthony is a Senior Physiotherapist at the Nuffield Hospital in Leeds.

Ant is a senior chartered physiotherapist with NHS and private practice experience spanning more than 14 years. His professional focus has been supporting people recovering from bone, muscle and joint injuries – including elite sport injuries. Ant qualified with a 1st in 2007 from Manchester Metropolitan University. Working in senior positions for the NHS and more recently for the Leeds Nuffield Hospital rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, Ant has also developed and championed new services to meet patient need.

Ant has worked on a part time basis at Leeds United Football Club working as a senior physiotherapist within their academy. He is also the co-founder of ecovery. A digital company that helps patients find the right clinician to diagnose and treat their injury/condition.

Anthony is a member of the ACPSM, CSP and is fully state registered with the HCPC. He has extensive experience working in lower limb rehabilitation and also has a special interest in treating post-operative shoulder conditions.

Emily Jackson
Senior Physiotherapist – Nuffield Hospital, Leeds

Emily Jackson

Emily is a Senior Physiotherapist at the Nuffield Hospital in Leeds.

Emily is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation. Her specialist interests are orthopaedics and sports injuries, particularly of the lower limb.

Emily is committed to providing the highest standards of treatment and service and is currently completing an MSc module in MSK Radiographic Image Interpretation to enhance her practice.

Emily works with Dr Jones as part of the Sports Medicine and Injury team at Nuffield Leeds Hospital offering expert injury rehabilitation for our patients.

When she is not working, Emily is often found hiking in the Yorkshire dales, playing netball or going to her local functional fitness gym.

Jen Craven
Senior Physiotherapist – Yorkshire Clinic, Bingley

Jen Craven

Jen has been working as a Musculoskeletal physiotherapist for almost 10 years.

She initially did a BSc in Sport and exercise science and worked as a personal trainer, spin and pilates instructor then started to go down the sports rehabilitation route and decided to do a degree in physiotherapy.

Currently almost finished her MSc in rehabilitation. Jen is the lead physio for Leeds Rhinos netball and enjoys working in sports rehabilitation which is a good job as her 15 year old son is very sporty and utilises her skills on a regular basis!

A keen triathlete herself, Jen enjoys cycling, swimming, running, walking her dalmatian and the gym and she also teaches pilates classes.

Ruth Jones
Senior Physiotherapist – Nuffield Hospital, Leeds

Ruth Jones

Ruth is a Senior Physiotherapist at the Nuffield Hospital, Leeds.

Ruth graduated with an Honours degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Salford in 2017. On graduating she went on to work in the NHS before moving on to specialise in MSK Physiotherapy in a variety of private settings. Ruth has completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Physiotherapy from the University of Salford.

Ruth has a special interest in lower limb injuries; specifically running-related injuries. Ruth has competed at an international level of mountain running and understands the demands of high-level training and the importance of strength and conditioning for injury prevention in runners. Having experienced long-term injury herself, she also understands the psychological impact this can have on athletes.

Alongside this, Ruth also enjoys rehabilitating patients post orthopaedic surgery and helping them to get back to their usual level of function and activity; whether that be walking the dog or playing sports.​

In her spare time Ruth trains and competes at road, cross country, and mountain running and tries to stay injury free by going to the gym for strength and conditioning work.
